There’s rarely just one thing happening at Cathy Waller Company.

Our work moves between performance, movement direction, touring, workshops, exhibitions, film, photography and collaborative projects. Sometimes that means developing a new piece for the stage. Sometimes it means taking an existing work to a new place, working with communities, collaborating with other artists or exploring an idea in a completely different form.

With so much of the work happening across different spaces, projects and disciplines, we wanted to create one place where you can easily see what’s happening now, what’s coming up and what we’ve been working on.

A place to discover what we’re doing

This new section of the website will bring together the latest activity from Cathy Waller Company.

You’ll find upcoming performances and tour dates, workshops and participatory opportunities, exhibitions, events and company news, as well as updates from projects as they develop.

Some posts will simply give you the practical details you need to join us somewhere: where we’re performing, when something is happening and how to book.

Others will offer a little more of the story behind the work, sharing what we’re creating, who we’re collaborating with and where a project is heading next.

The aim is to make it easier to follow the company’s work without needing to know exactly where on the website to look.

Performance and touring

Live performance remains an important part of what we do, whether we are presenting Cathy Waller Company’s own work, developing new productions or taking existing projects to new audiences.

Through Performances, we’ll share details of upcoming opportunities to experience the work live, including dates, venues, booking information and anything else you might need before attending.

Our Touring News will follow the wider journey of those projects. That might include new tour announcements, additional dates, updates from the road, partnerships with venues or news about where a piece is travelling next.

Touring allows work to evolve as it meets new places, spaces and audiences, so we want this section to capture some of that journey too.

Workshops and participation

Making work is only one part of our practice.

Cathy Waller Company also creates opportunities for people to participate, experiment and explore movement for themselves.

Our Workshops section will share upcoming sessions, classes and creative opportunities, from professional development and artist-led workshops to activity developed with young people, communities and other groups.

We believe there is value in creating spaces where people can explore ideas through movement, whether they are experienced performers or encountering this kind of practice for the first time.

This section will make those opportunities easier to find and share.

Exhibitions, film and interdisciplinary work

Not everything we create belongs on a traditional stage.

Our practice often moves across disciplines, bringing dance and movement into conversation with film, photography, visual art and other forms of storytelling.

The Exhibitions section will provide a home for this side of the company’s work, including installations, screenings, photographic projects and interdisciplinary pieces.

It gives us space to share work that may exist differently from a touring production, while still being closely connected to the ideas, people and creative processes that shape Cathy Waller Company.

Events and conversations

Creative work also happens around performance.

Talks, screenings, discussions, launches, Q&As and other events can create opportunities to meet, exchange ideas and engage with a project in a different way.

We’ll use our Events section to bring those moments together, whether they take place in person, online or alongside a wider programme of work.

News from the company

And then there are all the things that don’t fit neatly into one category.

New commissions. New collaborations. Artists joining a project. Research and development. Opportunities. Milestones. Ideas taking shape behind the scenes.

Our Company News section will give us somewhere to share these developments as they happen.

Creative projects rarely move in a perfectly straight line, and some of the most interesting parts of the process happen before something becomes a finished performance, exhibition or event.

We want to be able to share more of that journey too.
