Grant Writing
In 2021, Cathy surpassed £1,000,000 in successful grants funding for artists and organisations. Successful bids have been through Arts Council England, British Council, Wellcome Trust, BBC, United Nations, Creative Scotland. Cathy consults around wider thinking, project management, budgeting, fair pay and application writing.
Finance
Alongside supporting project budgeting and cashflow forecasting, Cathy facilitates finance learning so that artists are equipped with better understanding of how to manage their money. Cathy regularly holds workshops for self employed artists, graduates, students and creatives across the UK, and CWC hold yearly tax support in December and January to lessen the worries for the self assessment period.
Strategy
Cathy supports artists and organisations to strategise and build their company or project from the ground up. Whether a first phase R&D project, an NPO application or a rebrand, Cathy works with people to realise a meaningful and successful build. We find that this work usually encompasses all aspects of Cathy’s consulting, combining expertise in finance, access and bid writing to culminate in strategy support.
Access & Inclusion
Built upon Cathy's lived experience and work within disability arts, Cathy supports others to improve, take action and understand more about what access truly means for disabled artists and audiences.
Cathy works with organisations and artists to positively unpick oppressive and inaccessible systems by empowering change through the importance of language, understanding, empathy and by opening up safe spaces to talk about what access really means for everyone.
Partnering with Disability Arts Online, Cathy is currently piloting an agency to support disabled artists to receive Access to Work grants. Whilst working with Disability Arts Online in 2019, Cathy and CEO Trish Wheatley built a much needed accessible guide to Access to Work which helps to demystify the process for applicants and employers. Seeing the continual struggle to access the service, this agency hopes to roll out continual yearly support for disabled creatives in the coming years.
